Dr. Johnson is a medical oncologist with the Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in New Orleans, specializing in treating patients with melanoma, other advanced skin cancers, and lung cancer. He is also the Director of the Center for Innovative Cancer Therapies (Phase 1 program). He completed medical school and residency at Louisiana State University Health Science Center. His fellowship in Hematology Oncology was completed at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Dr. Johnson has specific research interests in strategies to prevent immunotherapy related toxicities while preserving the anti-tumor immune response. He is a principle investigator on multiple novel immunotherapy clinical trials in cancer, is a reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Immunotherapy for Cancer and serves as president of the Louisiana Oncology Society.
