Dr. Barto completed residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Pennsylvania State University’s Medical Center in Hershey, and completed her pulmonary and critical care fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, completing additional training in the care of Cystic Fibrosis patients and a Masters in Clinical Research.
Dr. Barto joined Baylor College of Medicine in 2012 as a member of the adult cystic fibrosis care center and serves as medical director of the Maconda Brown O’Conner PhD Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center. She has led her team to multiple local and national recognitions while providing these specialized patients the highest level care. Dr. Barto is very involved in Phase I-IV clinical trial operations at BCM and Texas Children’s Hospital, in partnership with the pediatric cystic fibrosis center, and she is frequently invited to speak on bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis. She has published several book chapters, full papers and many abstracts.
