Russell Pachynski, MD

Dr. Russell Pachynski completed his undergraduate work at Stanford, graduating with a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis on immunology and oncology. Following his undergraduate degree, he continued his research in basic immunology at UCSF, where he studied the structure and function of integrins. While a medical student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Pachynski was chosen as a Howard Hughes-National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Scholar. At the National Cancer Institute, he worked under the mentorship of Drs. Patrick Hwu and Steven Rosenberg in the Surgery Branch studying mouse tumor models and adoptive transfer therapy. He then returned to Stanford to complete his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Medical Oncology. He is currently an Associate Professor of Oncology at Washington University in St Louis, where his lab focuses on tumor immunology and immunotherapy. Clinically, he specializes in genitourinary cancers with an emphasis on prostate cancer immunotherapy and translational research. Dr. Russell Pachynski has served on tumor immunology study sections for both the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, as well as on editorial boards for Clinical Genitourinary Cancers and Frontiers in Oncology and is currently the co-Chair of the Awards Committee for the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).
