Cardiovascular Disease Board Review FAQs

Is The Pass Machine different from other board reviews?

Yes, in three main ways:

1. The Pass Machine board review is the most comprehensive option. More than just a Question Bank of practice questions, each course includes in-depth lectures in a familiar classroom setting presented by expert faculty. This means you get a topic-by-topic review of exactly what’s on the board exam in much greater detail than what you can get from QBank answer explanations.

2. Because the physician’s schedule is typically a hectic one, The Pass Machine is optimized for on-the-go review. Components such as the audio-only lecture option, iOS and Android app for mobile review, and offline access capability, and a fully illustrated board-mapped study guide make The Pass Machine review easy to incorporate at any point your daily routine.

3. The Triple Trust Guarantee not only gives you a full refund of your paid tuition* if you don’t pass the exam the first time after taking the course, but it also gives you an extra 10% and a free subscription renewal. This unprecedented guarantee serves to assure you of the confidence we have that The Pass Machine content is exceptional.

*Tuition is defined as the amount you paid for your base course, and does not include optional course add-ons, such as purchase of online access extensions, and/or the live course attendance option (where available). If any promotional items, such as gift cards, are included with your purchase, the value of that promotional item will be deducted from your tuition.

Who produces The Pass Machine Courses? Where do you get your faculty?

The Pass Machine board review courses are produced by American Physician Institute for Advanced Professional Studies, LLC (API). API conducts dozens of courses and trains thousands of physicians each year to pass their boards and stay up to date in their fields. Every single one of American Physician Institute‘s educational courses has full editorial independence, is free of pharmaceutical and industry sponsorship and is backed by an unbeatable guarantee. Because of its reputation for excellence, American Physician Institute is able to enlist many of the top faculty from the best universities, teaching hospitals and research facilities in the country to provide you with Category 1 CME educational activities.

Do you provide board review for other medical specialties?

Yes! In fact, we provide preparation for dozens of other specialty and subspecialty board exams. Check out www.AmericanPhysician.com for the full list.

Is it likely that my employer will cover my tuition?

Because all The Pass Machine courses are approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, it is likely that your tuition will be reimbursed. You may be surprised at how many residency and fellowship training programs, group practices, and other employers pay for or reimburse you for such Category 1 educational activities. After all, it’s in everyone’s best interests to have you board certified. It really pays to ask your training director, medical director, or administrator if you are eligible because some training programs and employers do pay for board exam training. And, if you work for the Federal Government, American Physician Institute is a certified business in the CCR database and can accept government checks and credit cards.

Does The Pass Machine offer any free board review resources?

Yes! Start with our Medical Board Review Blog. There are general articles featuring board prep tips, and articles on board prep that are more board specific.

What is your Sam.gov Unique Entity ID?

American Physician Institute’s Unique Entity ID is LQWHFPP2KLB8.

Can I get a discount off course tuition?

Yes! American Physician Institute offers several board review course discounts:

  1. Group discounts
  2. Multi-purchase discounts
  3. Referral earnings & discounts through our Ambassador Referral Program

  • Triple Trust Guarantee

Is The Pass Machine Cardiovascular Disease review pass-guaranteed?

Yes, all full courses are pass-guaranteed, and backed by our Triple Trust Guarantee. At any time, you can view the Triple Trust Guarantee Terms & Conditions.

What does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover?

If you purchase a course with a “Triple Trust Guarantee” and fail the board exam for which this course is designed, API will issue a 100% refund of your paid tuition*, plus an additional 10%, plus free subscription renewal. The guarantee expires in the event the exam for which this course is designed is no longer offered by the certifying board.

*  Tuition is defined as the amount you paid for your base course, and does not include optional course add-ons, such as purchase of online access extensions, and/or the live course attendance option (where available). If any promotional items, such as gift cards, are included with your purchase, the value of that promotional item will be deducted from your tuition.

The Triple Trust Guarantee sounds too good to be true—is it for real?

Yes, it’s completely real. Rest assured, API has always honored its guarantees and always will. The Triple Trust Guarantee is API’s way of demonstrating that it’s just as invested in your success as you are. After all, if you fail your board exam, API will pay a penalty. API will refund your course tuition in full, provide you with a 10% bonus, and provide you with free subscription renewal. The guarantee ensures API doesn’t get paid for effort, only for passing results.

Does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover non-tuition course options and upgrades?

No. Course options and upgrades are non-tuition related. Therefore, these fees are not included in any guarantee-related refund payment made under the terms of the Triple Trust Guarantee.

What should I do if I don’t pass my board exam?

First, it’s important to remember that a non-passing result is not necessarily a reflection on your abilities as a physician. The way the ABIM tests you is not the same as the many ways you’re “tested” as a practicing physician. Check out this reassuring video from Dr. Jack – What To Do If You Fail Your Board Exam https://www.thepassmachine.com/video-what-to-do-fail-your-board-exam/

More to the point, American Physician Institute can work with you to help you get over this professional hurdle. Give us a call!

I didn’t pass my board exam. How do I activate my course guarantee?

To activate your guarantee, you must notify American Physician Institute of your failure to pass your board exam and submit a copy of your exam notification and scores. To be eligible for the refund portion of the guarantee you must submit your documents within 45 days of the date of your exam fail notification. To notify American Physician Institute and submit your documents, go to your course dashboard, and click on the “Guarantee” tab. Complete the form and attach your exam notification and scores. You will receive an email confirmation of receipt, and someone will contact you shortly. If you need assistance with this process or your subscription access is expired, please contact Customer Care at support@americanphysician.com

Read What Your Colleagues Are Saying About The Pass Machine Cardiovascular Disease Board Review Course

“Excellent review course both video and written courses and helpful questions and answers and I passed the board.”

Emeke Nkadi, MD, Beavercreek, OH

“The Pass Machine covered the basics for the Cardiovascular recertification examination. I felt prepared going into the exam. The questions were good and there was a lot of repetition to help hone your test-taking skills.”

Kevin Bobrowsky, MD, Walnut Creek, CA

“I have taken the Cardiovascular Disease review course the last two times I needed to recertify. I have felt well-prepared and scored well both times. The first course was in person and the recent was of course online. The class is an excellent board prep for the physician in community practice.”

Michael Fleissner, MD, Chesterfield, MO

“This cardiology board review course was laid out very well and did not have extraneous information like others out there. The question bank was harder than the version of the exam I took. I emailed multiple lecturers with questions throughout the year and all but one responded. The online format makes it easy to do on the go and doesn’t burn vacation/CME time. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to certify/recertify in Cardiology above others (you will not be disappointed).”

Thomas Gaines, MD, New Orleans, LA

“I can honestly say that the only reason I passed the cardiology boards the last time I took them was because of The Pass Machine. The Pass Machine is the best cardiology board review course you can take. Unlike other courses, The Pass Machine is concise and only goes over what you really need to know for the boards. I previously took the Mayo Board Review course, which spent too much time reviewing things that were not needed for just taking the boards. I felt like this only made it harder to decide what was pertinent and what was not. The questions The Pass Machine gave to review were great for cardiology board preparation. I would highly recommend The Pass Machine as the only concise board review for the Cardiology boards.”

Jeffrey W. Bissing, DO, Shawnee Mission, KS

“I just received notification that I passed (with room to spare)! As an electrophysiologist, I needed to review general cardiology and thought your lecturers were on target and on content. I have already recommended your course to others planning to take the boards this fall.”

Raul Mintrani, MD, FACC, FHRS, Bay Harbor Islands, FL

“This cardiology board review course is excellent, as well as superior to any board review courses I’ve taken in the past! This course is driven to help you and guide you for the boards. Would highly recommend anyone to be part of this experience – you will never regret it.”

Orlando Almanza, MD, Miami, FL

“I’ve been to all the review courses through the years – ACCF, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic – and by far this was the best. The repetition and interdisciplinary approach to the program were excellent. All guideline-oriented – great job!”

Carl Thurmond, MD, Columbia, SC

“I was extremely pleased with the format of this course and the ability to review all lectures online over and over till mastered. The set of practice questions is designed for you to know exactly what the Boards expect from you. When you study from this course, your confidence and knowledge to pass is real. I recommend it highly.”

Victor Mejia, MD, Coguas, PR

“The content is succinct and board-directed, which is why I’m here, but at the same time clinically relevant and helpful for practice refresher.”

Arie Szatkowski, MD, Memphis, TN

“A superb, focused overview of cardiology with emphasis on board-relevant material while maintaining relevance to clinical practice.”

Paul Kim, MD, Greenwood, SC

“Excellent & extremely comprehensive as well as geared toward board review. The best I have seen as compared to others available.”

O.V. Almanza, MD, Greenwood, SC

“Great course. Good review of the entire Cardiovascular Disease section for the boards. Enjoyed it! Intense but great!”

Sylvester Ejeh, MD, Fayateville, NC

“Excellent, focused cardiology board review. Well-organized with high quality speakers. Organized, comprehensive course material.”

Divyesh Bhakta, MD, Louisville, KY

“Best board review course I’ve attended. Only focused on issues relevant to passing the test.”

Steven Correa, MD, Medford, OR

“I had watched mayo videos, attended the ACC board review—and this course by far was the most focused and relevant for the boards. Specifically, I was so frustrated trying to prepare being from a DO program and this is 100% the reason I passed. So many great pearls I would have NEVER reviewed had it not been for this course, THANK YOU!”

Dena Krishnan, DO, Norfolk, VA

“The course was an essential part of my studying—and passing the exam.”

Matthew Weiss, MD, Elmhurst, NY

“Excellent coverage of all the relevant content for the board examination”

Vishnu Kalidindi, MD, Frisco, TX

“Concise and board centric. Multi format utility. Very solid; primary source for me with busy practice. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.”

Terry Zarling, MD, Pewaukee, WI

“I used The Pass Machine to study for my cardiology recertification exam. As a full-time clinical cardiologist, I mostly needed it to review topics that I don’t do that often like electrophysiology and congenital heart disease. I found The Pass Machine to be boards oriented, which was very helpful to me because I did not have a lot of time to study and I didn’t want to waste any time on unnecessary information. I would highly recommend The Pass Machine to anyone who is studying for a re-CERT exam.”

Dara Lewis, MD, Chestnut Hill, MA

“This was my second recertification, or third go around overall. I finished my cardiovascular training in 1994. The first two exams were fairly straightforward and easy to pass without difficulty. However, I have a very busy practice, and very little time to study. I found that the ACC and Mayo courses were not helpful. This course was right on spot, and I was able to pass without difficulty. I highly recommend the course, I will continue to use it as a source of reference, and all of my colleagues who have upcoming recertification examinations plan on using it as well based upon my recommendations. Well done, and thank you!”

David Lefkowitz, MD, New York, NY

“The educational course is highly informative and appropriate for examination preparation and highly useful and up to date and unbiased”

Ramachandra Kolluru, MD, Odessa, TX

“I would definitely recommend API for the Cardiology recertification, encompassed everything you should know.”

Prashanth Jayaraj, MD, Burbank, CA

“Excellent. Job well done.”

Stanley Lau, MD, Los Angeles, CA

“API Representatives were excellent and professional.”

Flora Samra, MD, Needham, MA

“Very useful, informative, in detail. Extremely helpful for both boards and private practice.”

Charles Villoch, MD

“I found this to be very helpful. I am changing my practice-patterns based upon what I’ve learned.”

Joseph E. Gardella, MD, Messena, NY

“Very thorough and focused to exam. Online presentations available immediately after the course.”

Mehdi Qamar, MD, Lancaster, OH

“An excellent review of Cardiology in a very short time-very efficient.”

Krishna Namburi, MD, Terra Haute, IN

“Very well-organized and precise for cardiology board review. One of the best I have attended.”

George Vettiankal, MD, Henderson, KY

“Excellent overall cardiology board review. Illuminates areas that need further review before the test.”

Michael Fleissner, MD, St. Louis, MO

“Great course. My confidence has increased tremendously.”

Samantha Avery, MD, St. Pete, FL

“Up to date, focused review. Most ideal for passing the boards.”

Oliver Diaz, MD, Bristol, CT

“Excellent cardiology board review course. No-nonsense approach – what you need to know!”

Karamchand Paul, MD, Indianapolis, IN

“Helped me focus on what I need to concentrate on and prepare for the boards.”

Sophie Parker, MD, Norfolk, VA

“Wonderful program to laser focus your board review.”

Roland A. Filart, MD, Windermere, FL

“Comprehensive review for the Cardiology Boards!”

Sandra Dee, MD, Jaclem, TN

“Far more superior to ACC and Mayo courses.”

Mark Jenkins, MD, Dallas, TX

“Very detailed”

Jeff Steinhoff, MD, Largo, FL

“The Pass Machine course was a very valuable time saving and organizing tool to review a large volume of material. In my case, I allotted less time then ideal to this review. Had I not had The Pass Machine materials, I would not have been able to manage the volume. Very well organized course. I passed.”

Daniela Samoil, MD, FACC, Lake Oswego, OR

“I felt quite prepared after taking the review course. He brushed me up on topics that I don’t encounter in my practice on a day-to-day basis, and also solidified my current practice management as up to date. I passed with flying colors!! Thanks for a great review course.”

Judy Rippert, DO, Dover, DE

“I have personally told all my colleagues in town, the only reason I passed recertification was because of your course. It was a great overview as well. It streamlined the review process so I could do it, enjoy top notch lecturers, and fit it into a hectic private practice schedule.”

Nancy Cho, MD, Vero Beach, FL

“I just learned that I passed the Spring 2013 Cardiology Maintenance of Certification Examination. Your course was instrumental in passing the examination. The practice questions were very focused and exam-oriented and the overall course experience was excellent!”

Emmett B. Chapital JR., MD, MBA, FACC, FASNC, New Orleans, LA

“Excellent course, outstanding, super! Very well presented, I took the exam & passed, Thanks.”

Mammen P. Zachariah, MD, Fort Lauderdale, FL

“This is a well organized course of basic cardiology topics guided for general cardiology practice as well as board recertification. The speakers in general do a very concise, organized presentation of their topics. I have recommended it to colleagues.”

Walter Haught, MD, Huntsville, AL

“The cardiology board review course was great! The info presented was pertinent to the board exam. I am on a 3rd time recert, and it’s the best board review I ever attended. Information is also very pertinent to daily practice of cardiology.”

Joseph Pedone, MD, Niceville, FL

“I would definitely recommend API for the Cardiology recertification, encompassed everything you should know.”

Joseph Pedone, MD, Niceville, FL

“Concise and to the point.”

Osamah Elattar, PhD, Los Angeles, CA

“Best. Review. Ever.”

Randall Morris, MD, Houston, TX
