Daniel M. Doleys, PhD

Dr. Doleys is the director of The Doleys Clinic/Pain and Rehabilitation Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. He obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University, a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Miami in Florida, and completed a two-year clinical postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Georgia. Prior to starting in private practice, he was an Associate Professor of Psychology in the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. His clinical and research interests have focused on the assessment and treatment of chronic pain. He has served on the editorial board and as a quest reviewer for several journals and co-authored over 100 scientific papers, journal articles and book chapters. He is the author of Pain:  Dynamics and Complexities (Oxford University Press, 2014) as well as Understanding and Managing Chronic Pain:  A Guide for Patients and Clinicians (Outskirts Press, 2014). He is the recipient of the Distinguished Research Psychologist Award from the Alabama Psychological Association, and the Excellence in Research and Clinical Care Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Dr. Hubert L. and Renee S. Rosomoff Award for Excellence in Pain from the from the Southern Pain Society. Dr. Doleys is a member of several professional associations, including the American Psychological Association, American Pain Society, The International Association for Study of Pain, American Academy of Pain Medicine and the Southern Pain Society. He has been on the Board of Directors for the International Pelvic Pain Society and the Southern Pain Society, and past President of the Southern Pain Society (2007-2009).
