After completing her residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Dr. Dietrich committed herself to education and excellence for all levels of clinical training. She has worked with medical students, residents, fellows and junior attendings to elevate each learner to the best he/she can be. She worked in medical education at The Ohio State University for over 25 years and the American College of Emergency Physicians, at the state and national level, for over 20 years. She has worked extensively with curriculum development to assure successful completion of shelf, inservice, certification and recertification exams. She has also been involved in several research projects, particularly, as a collaborator, with Dr. Keith Yeates, with research that focused on mild head injuries (concussions). Dietrich has created Emergency Medicine curriculum for Board Review and other educational projects to enhance emergency care for pediatric patients. She has published numerous educational articles to enhance patient care, and mentored numerous faculty members and encouraged involvement in national leadership roles.
Dr. Dietrich has been actively involved in the committee as a member (over 20 years) and chair the last two years of the ACEP PEM National Comm, advocating and working to publish resources and guidelines to assist her colleagues with this tremendous crisis. In her roles as Chair and Medical Director of Education at Ohio ACEP she has worked to enhance collaboration across specialties. Dietrich has worked with trauma surgeons to enhance care for pediatric trauma patients, through education and development of protocols and guidelines. She has also developed numerous educational curriculum and products for attendings, residents and students.
