James Smithy, MD MHS, is an Assistant Attending Physician on the Melanoma Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a clinical and translational investigator, he leads immunotherapy and cell therapy trials in melanoma and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team of pathologists and data scientists to develop tissue-based biomarkers of immunotherapy response.
Dr. Smithy completed his medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and his medical residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he served as a chief resident. He received his MD and MHS degrees from the Yale School of Medicine, where he completed his MD thesis research in the lab of Dr. David Rimm.
