Dr. Shannon has been involved in hospice and palliative medicine education for the past 20 years. He has designed and implemented all hospital-based Palliative Care Consultative Service, an outpatient Palliative Care Clinic and the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Team. Dr. Shannon also created the Mayo Clinic Palliative Medicine Fellowship and is the ongoing Fellowship Director for the past 6 years. Dr. Shannon is Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
