I think that the course really contributed to my passing my board exam. I would recommend the course, however, be sure to put the time into reviewing the material."

Cygethia Kankam, MD, Royal Palm Beach, FL

"This course covered the content extremely well to help me conquer the ABFM exam. Will certainly consider using again when the time comes for the re-cert!"

Jared Smith, DO, Selinsgrove, PA

“This was my fourth time taking the Family Medicine board exam as I am now in my mid fifties. I passed each time but ten years ago my passing margin was not as comfortable as I would have liked. I decided to buy one of the online courses and thankfully I went with The Pass Machine. It was an excellent choice. I received a very high score; perhaps even more important it was a great refresher on the broad spectrum of family medicine. My patients will no doubt benefit from my upping my game. The flexibility of audio and video formats as well as the quick random exams was much appreciated. The faculty are all top notch. I will likely take the test one more time before I retire, so expect me to sign up again in ten years!”

Lawrence Deal, MD, Saint Paul, MN

“I passed my test. I felt very prepared. The questions you had on your board were way more detailed than the actual test, but because of that, I was comfortable with my answers. I am 53 years old. I do intend to take the test in 10 years for my last exam before retirement. Thanks again.”

Alexander Locascio, DO, Bettendorf, IA

“I took my Family Medicine Board 2 years ago and then had to take my Geriatrics board exam the following year. I passed EACH exam with a comfortable margin. I read things from my medical societies that interest me, but it’s so easy to drift away from areas that we also need to know for the test (and real life). I feel like the review program you designed best helped me know where I was weak. This showed me where I could focus my efforts to review the literature. And it worked! I will (and already have) recommend your review program to ALL of my medical associates. Thank you again!”

Charles Miller, MD, Houston, TX

“The Family Medicine Board Review Course was excellent and very thorough. I liked the online study program because I could go at my own pace and watch the videos multiple times. I found the module lectures to be extremely helpful and they really targeted the specific information. I passed and my score improved 70 points! I initially picked this program because of the money back guarantee, but I'm so glad that I don't need to use it! I will definitely recommend this program to other colleagues.”

Doria Thomas, MD, Hyattsville, MD

“I was worried about trusting my study for family medicine boards to a single study system, so I purchased a competing course on MP3/video and attended the American Physician course in person. The American Physician product was head and shoulders above the other review course. One of the other attendees had attended a review course by yet another company, and also felt he should have saved his money and only purchased the American Physician course. I don't usually write this type of recommendation, but these programs represent a significant investment, and I wish someone I trusted had given me this information. I was pleasantly surprised with my board scores, and there were a lot of questions that I would have gotten wrong if I hadn't taken the API review.”

Brandon Hall, MD, Oxford, MS

“I like to thank you for offering the review course. After taking the course, my exam score improved over 100 pts, and I passed w/ ease. Thank you again, and I strongly recommend American Physician Institute (API) board exam review course to my peers without any hesitation. Thank you!”

Yoon Pak, MD, Cerritos, CA

“Thank you for an incredible comprehensive review of family medicine! I passed with flying colors and just got my ABFM scores. I completed your entire review course, and found it to be the best study tool I could have found in the market. You came highly recommended from one of my preceptors at my family medicine residency in Corpus Christi, Texas. I will now go forward as a newly board certified family medicine doctor because of this unique and thorough program.”

Sherryl Shipes, DO, Corpus Christi, TX

“I took the course after extensive search for a good, well-credited live course. I was impressed by the material, and the live course was all I was hoping for- ‘Family Medicine in a nutshell.’ The online question bank was very useful as well and it helped me pass my boards. I will definitely use it for my next board exam. Thank you, American Physician Institute, for helping me pass my board exam.”

Maria Latif, MD, Bolingbrook, IL

“Terrific course fabulous instructors! Overall well worth the investment! I was very prepared after the course and passed without a problem! Thank you.”

Denise Santucci, MD, Plainview, NY

“Just writing to let you know that I passed my boards. I think this course is the best I have taken in years. Through this course I learned how to really study for the new board questions. Thanks again.”

Ricardo Pena, MD, Rockledge, FL

“I passed on the first try, thanks to your Family Medicine Board Review Course.”

Robert Martino, MD, West Fargo, ND

"I found the video presentation to be an excellent preparation for the ABFM certification exam. The quality of the video gave a sense of actually being present at the lectures and allowed me to pace myself at my own schedule. I was able to take an hour or two in the evenings and several hours on each weekend to prepare for the exam. The material was fresh and pertinent. I recognized many facts presented during the lectures that were addressed specifically in the exam.”

Richard Nond, DO, Santa Ana, CA

“This is the best value I have found in educational courses! I have recommended it to all of my partners. Far more focused and detailed then THE AFP course. All recent ABFM certified physicians as instructors and one previously with the ABFM. All FAMILIAR with the test AND the latest appropriate information. This is NOT JUST a "ABFM board prep course" but a highly efficient update in all areas of Family Practice. 2 days with API provided as much information as 4 days of any other program! Great value. I'll definitely use API again!”

Don Hurley, DO, Charleston, SC

“My review course provided by American Physician Institute (API) was instrumental in helping me mount a recovery after failing an earlier board certification exam attempt. I needed a to make up a major gap in my board preparation which required several months of study and the API course helped me gauge the width and depth of the project. Presenters were very knowledgeable. Scope of the presentations was perfect. This was the most comprehensive of the four courses I used and the most beneficial. Please keep up the great work and thank your staff for their boundless support.”

Dan Stuckey, MD, Katy, TX

“I believe that the lectures along with completion of test questions and review of weaknesses I will achieve test success. Lecturers were quite available to answer questions. Staff was very helpful and friendly and answered questions about my concerns. The triple guarantee suggests the commitment to achieving high quality board review and test success for all participants.”

Joanne Davson, MD, Ocala, FL

“Extremely impressed. Organization was excellent. Most, if not all lecturers were excellent! Kept me attentive the entire 5 days. Material was wonderful and extremely helpful in studies. By far the best thing I feel I could have done to prepare for the exam. Probably will come every few years just for the review to provide better care for my patients.”

George E. Gillespie III, MD, Petal, MS

“I was worried about trusting my study for family medicine boards to a single study system, so I purchased a competing course on MP3/video and attended the American Physician course in person. The American Physician Family Medicine Board Review Course was head and shoulders above the other review course.

“I was extremely impressed by the comprehensive yet simplified nature of the classes. The speakers were knowledgeable and really seemed to have spent time honing their presentations to allow for non-overwhelming yet memorable (not-dry) presentations of key material. Thanks!”

Kiyoshi Yamazaki, MD, Albany, GA

“Best Family Medicine test prep I have attended. I’ve done this 6 times over the last 35 years. All modules are concise and contain the facts needed for test-taking success. All modules are referenced to the literature articles.”

Frank J. Rubino, MD, Wausau, WI

“This was a very helpful Family Medicine Board Review Course. Helped to focus on a do-able body of material, most of which is also clinically useful. It was a good review of family medicine and a good update of the subjects that we were not actively including in our practices.”

Family Medicine MOC Testimonials

“I attended your review course in February. I found it very helpful not only as a board review but as a comprehensive family medicine review as well and learned several things that were very helpful in my general practice. I took the week before my boards off to cram for the test. Four nights before my boards, I developed an acutely bleeding ulcer and ended up in the hospital overnight, with my Hgb dropping down to 8. The only studying I ended up doing, other than your review course, was reviewing the flash cards I made from the review course and taking your practice tests online while I was recovering in bed. I went ahead and took the test as scheduled because it was too late to reschedule by the time I got out of the hospital and with the pass guarantee I figured it was better to try to take the test and flunk it rather than skip it all together--but I didn't think that there was much chance that I would actually pass under the circumstances. You can't imagine my relief when I got my scores last week and realized that I passed with a very safe margin. I could not have done it without your course, which was the only studying I was able to do. Thank you so much!”

Candy Stockton, MD, Redding, CA

“Thank you for the opportunity to respond with my warm thanks for helping me to be successful in the Family Practice Board exam this year. I had planned for several months of study but only had a few weeks because I had to care for a family member. I watched the videos, took the exams, retook my tests and the questions I got wrong to create a living working template. I was able to easily access the site at any time of day or night and when I had returned it was ready for me. I had a sense of security and an important check on my strengths and weaknesses. You demonstrated rigor, brought us outstanding, practical, and humorous speakers, and reminded us to enjoy the journey. I did indeed.”

Debra Katchen, MD, Galesburg, IL

“I took your Hospice and Palliative Care review course last August and passed my board exam. There are so many aspects of medicine where I know I’m practicing good medicine, yet the thought process is now more automatic. Reviewing psychology, pathology, pharmacology, or in the FM boards, OB is invaluable in my ability to explain (answer the question correctly) my medical thought process.”

Drew Maris, MD, Scotts Valley, CA

"This course helped prepare for the weird questions about rare condition. The recert exam 10 years ago I thought was pretty practical and representative of what we actually do. Can't say the same for the latest, not sure what the question writers smoke or what Puffer does for his $700,000 a year. BUT the course was very helpful and I passed quite comfortably. Loved the gong between sessions.”

Nell Nestor, MD, Hendersonville, TN

"I PASSED MY TEST! Thank you for all your help. The material you have was so helpful. There are so many products on the market and it is so difficult to chose the one that fits my needs. I especially like Dr. Sheelers lectures, they were high yield and it helped focus on what was important to know for the test. I referred my husband for the Anesthesia Course. I will definitely take this course in 10 yrs when I have to recertify again. I hope API will continue to have the same standards.”

Cheryl Nierva, MD, Glendale, AZ

"I was nervous, to be honest, when I purchased it 3 months before the exam. The materials very meticulously prepared and presented in a manner that was informative, with emphasis on what we need to know for the boards, which I very much liked. Speakers were excellent. I passed the Boards in flying colors.Thank you API”

Nalini Balachandran, MD, Sugar Land, TX

"I passed the boards with a lot room to spare thanks to the Pass Machine's  no fluff, just the facts approach. This was the most knowledge dense time spent in over 35 years in practice. I especially found the trial exams very helpful...great program. Support was excellent especially the man in charge of technology... a real asset. He has more patience with non techies than anyone at other programs. Give him a raise!!”

Raymond Bohrer, MD, Traverse City, MI

"I passed my exam and American Physician Institute helped me do it. There is a reasonable amount of material presented. It helped organize my studying process. The fact that there is a money back guarantee is really worth it. The lecturers were amazing and added information that I could use in my practice.”

Morlie Wang, MD, Darien, IL

"I just found out that passed my Family Medicine Boards. This is my 4th time taking them, each time I went down a bit on my score till this year. Attending your course and some of my study afterwards resulted in a huge improvement in my score. Thanks for putting together such a great course.”

Mark Stevenson, MD, Minnetonka, MN

"I sat thru the National Family Medicine board review last year, in Las Vegas and then flunked the boards. I signed up for the American Physician Institute board review, and watched the videos online…and then I aced the boards. I can only say “thank you very much”. Your course was exactly what I needed.”

Richard Lieberman, MD, Santa Fe, NM

"Thanks so much for the excellent preparation! Not only was the course easy to navigate and review from the comfort of my Mac at home, but most importantly, it truly helped me prepare for the exam material and emphasized all of the important topics. I was very well prepared and my score reflected it. See you in ten years!”

Jim Gatto, MD, Summit, WI

"I passed with minimal effort. Just by reading through the material once after taking your fantastic complete 5 day medical school repeat course. Thank you very much.”

Richard Kaut, MD, New Sharon, ME

"I passed the exam! The study material was right on point. I failed the exam in the Spring as I foolishly thought that the AAFP board review course would be sufficient.”

Jeanine Trevelyan, MD, Texarkana, TX

"Great course. Concise and touched all review points. Passed with good scores in just one month pass machine study.”

Pankaj Bansal, MD, Scarsdale, NY

"Took course in Chicago 2015. PASSED!”

James Samuel, MD, Vernon Hills, IL

"Very interesting and thorough course. This was my last boards and it was harder than I remembered. I was happy to see I passed with twice the points needed. This course and the supplemental lectures really did prepare me esp with PEDs and hospital medicine since I don't do those anymore.”

Karen Will, DO, Mokena, IL

“As an Associate Program Director, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and delivery of the live lectures. The supplemental recorded lectures were helpful to listen to on my work commute. I would recommend this course for board review, or a very intense review for CME. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Most importantly my board scores were even higher than when I took them ten years ago. I felt very well prepared due to your course, and would recommend it to anyone who asks! Thank you!”

Sonya Dominguez, MD, Fleming Island, FL

“Thank you API for providing the learning material that helped me pass the boards with 160 points to spare! I have never been particularly good at taking standardized tests, but I studied for 4 months with your online courses and the printed syllabus and I am very glad that I did! Thank you for all your help! I would recommend your course to anyone taking the Family Practice Maintenance of Certification Exam.”

Michael Verwest, MD, North Fort Myers, FL

“Kudos to API and the service you provide your fellow physicians! I’ve found the API family medicine review course both helpful for review purposes and instructive to keep me up to date in my clinical practice. The teaching staff is outstanding but I give a special acknowledge to Dr. Robert Sheeler who is a tremendous teacher as well as a fantastic human being in trying to help us students! He is the one, more than anybody else, that made a difference for me in terms of getting me over the hump and passing Boards! He took the time to review my old score and told me specifically what to study. He is a credit to your program.”

Paul Yang, MD, Lebanon, OH

“I sincerely appreciate the thorough preparation for the ABFM maintenance of certification exam provided me by the American Physician Institute. Since it had been 10 years since my last exam, and I have been working primarily as a physician executive since then, with very limited clinical exposure, I knew that I needed a comprehensive update. My week in Chicago provided such an experience, with a focus on the areas of medicine most likely to be of importance on the exam. Having the enduring materials to study during the 3 months between the course and the exam date was invaluable, and the format of the material was engaging and enjoyable, with immediate feedback. Although I found the actual exam to be quite challenging, my preparation enabled me to achieve a score that was 142% of that required for passing! Thanks API!”

David Westfall, MD, MPH, CPE, Gainesville, GA

“Dr. Taylor’s enthusiasm for her subject and her practice of medicine are infectious. They help me renew my commitment to good clinical outcomes-based medicine, in addition to passing the boards.”

Lynn Goetze, MD, Bluffton, SC

“One of the outstanding features of this program is the unlimited access to multi-channel learning with targeted and well-structured current information. With the explosion of genetic medicine, new drugs, and evidence based medicine directed practice, this program helps the family physician stay on the right study track.”

Elizabeth Schneider, MD, Hinesburg, VT

“Great Family Medicine Board Review Course. I took another course prior to taking this one, took the exam and failed. That course was through AAFP. Materials covered in this course did show up as exam questions. AAFP did not cover the pertinent material and missed the mark completely. I would highly recommend this course to my colleagues.”

Adil Arabbo, MD, Commerce, MI

“I believe the speakers were motivated to help us. They did not seem to just be punching the clock. I appreciate the ability to review the videos of the lectures. Each speaker spoke to the nuances of test-taking. I want to commend each speaker, especially Drs. Hueston, Needham, and Taylor.”

Matt Bolton, MD, Cookeville, TN

“I think this course is a must for anyone in practice taking the recertification exam. I enjoyed the part that the lecturers have personal experience with the board exam. The questions at the end of each section, reviewed as a group is an excellent idea. Definitely will take this course before all future recertification exams.”

Noel Brown, MD, Mt. Vernon, NY

“Family Medicine lecturers/faculty are excellent (knowledge base, intimate information on our experience), unlike other review courses I’ve attended with experts who are unfamiliar with the depth & breadth of what we are required to know. Taking this course annually would be an excellent update. I will recommend this course to my colleagues!”

Jennifer Byrd, MD, Chicago, IL

“Even though the days were long and the volume massive, this is an excellent review, directly guided towards those of us who are preparing for recertification and who need rapid & expeditious brain stimulation & knowledge regurgitation. The course was excellent. I enjoyed the organization and felt the material was great and relevant!”

Cynthia L. Brown-Manning, MD, Bastrop, LA

“This is my 4th time through the ABFM Board Exam process. I took three other exam prep courses in the past, all of which were unsatisfactory. This is the first board exam prep course I have taken that I would recommend to colleagues. Lectures were clear and concise; the lecturers were excellent. Material was presented in a manner that not only made me feel like I was better prepared for my Boards, but that I believe will improve my performance as a clinician.”

James Williams, MD, San Angelo, TX

"I have to say the course was better than I expected. The presenters were excellent, kept me very focused, excellent knowledge base. Material was very pertinent, with just the right blend of usefulness and straightforward prep for boards. Online portion also excellent.”

Susan M. Christensen, MD, Kailua, HI

Tamara Dominguez, MD, San Antonio, TX

"This is an amazing course! The lectures from the day were already posted to the website by the time I got back to the hotel! I couldn’t believe it! The lecturers are all very accomplished and confident. Makes me feel I am in the right place to be learning / reviewing! It’s nice you chose someone who writes test questions as one of your speakers!”

Elizabeth Ann Scott, MD, Salem, OR

"This course separates the wheat from the chaff. A lot of material, but a concise, well-thought-out review, presented in a way to learn the pearls. I can go over any lecture and review any section as often as is necessary.”

G.A, Goforth, DO, Nashville, IL
